Need help with a Power Failure Alarm Circuit

My cell phone wallwart measures ~ 1.25" * 1.25" * .65". It looks like an over sized plug. Are you saying that you're going to hard wire this to the mains, IE no plug? Chris

    Wireless power transmission

Yes, the operative terms in that article are "large coils" and they do mean large and tubular, like antenna elements. That said, the 80% efficiency is a hell of a lot greater than when I first read about this technology. I still don't consider 80% good at a time when we're trying to make...

    Electronic whack-a-mole

At this very moment Kris might be designing a totally discrete model of this. If we needle him enough we might be able to goad him into including plans for home made passive components too! :D Chris

    Generator Project

We need particulars from you. RMS AC Voltage (No Load) RMS AC Voltage (Load Current = 200mA) Photo of the generator system. This information will give us the basic capabilities of this generator. FYI, you could have used a factory made DC brush motor from Radio Shack and used it in...

    Wireless power transmission

I should tell you from the get go that wireless power transmission is possibly the most power hungry, power wasteful concept that was ever conceived. Chris

Circuit for converting ammeter to voltmeter.

It couldn't hurt but neither would answering basic questions. Chris

For what value of L, will this circuit resonate at 332kHz?

What Tina version did you buy? Chris

Circuit for converting ammeter to voltmeter.

Perhaps it would be useful for blkfrd to Google "Ohms Per Volt". Maybe it'll help him grasp the concepts of what constitutes a practical voltmeter. Chris

    555 Mosfet driver problems

I considered that but his print indicates an IRF510. I dismissed the chance that the print is mis-marked because he said that he connected the gate to his 5V rail and the FET turned on. If it weren't for these two discrepancies I'd be betting you're right. On second thought the evidence dictates...

Current source OK until load disconnected

Well you may not have learned anything here but I certainly have. This is useful information. I just have to find a practical use for it. How many Yuenglings' do you think it will take to come up with a stellar idea? Chris Edit: I'm willing to work hard at this!

Circuit for converting ammeter to voltmeter.

Well we don't know what that means. Does it mean that this meter was used with an external shunt but is no longer being used with the shunt? If so it's a totally different ball game. I asked you earlier if you see any small print on the meter face. It usually specs the full scale meter...

    555 Mosfet driver problems

That's not selfish, it's wasteful. Maybe you live in Boca? :p Actually, I retract that statement. They are selfish because they could have given the stuff to charity. BTW, I see you have a face warmer started. Good thing because it's getting chilly. :D Chris

Need help with a Power Failure Alarm Circuit

I can't say I'm thrilled over his power supply design. Wall warts are dirt cheap! Besides that all of us accumulate a large trove of them over time. Chris

Current source OK until load disconnected

Too bad the current loop isn't pulsating DC. The SCR would reset itself, but then it wouldn't be a constant current loop. More like a max (peak) current loop. If this is an emergency lighting system then a crowbar across the loop for other than over voltage from power supply failure would...

    555 Mosfet driver problems

You have a scope but you've been futzing around with a DMM? Also, since you suspected noise, substituting another supply or battery pack would have been logical troubleshooting progression Chris

    555 Mosfet driver problems

Usually we like to see a ~10R resistor in series with the gate but it's to suppress ringing. I don't think it's going to cure this issue and I don't think it's related. Chris

Need help with a Power Failure Alarm Circuit

Do I understand that this entire circuit is used to trip the buzzer when the mains are lost? Chris
