    Ah, you love your Picaxe, don't you? At a glance it all looks OK but you may have to play with the value of R2. My guess is that it will need to by higher. You can do preliminary tests on yourself. Chris

    An Ohmmeter will work. You just need some kind of sticky pads that will stick to a hairy horse. I wouldn't worry about electrolysis at these very low currents. ;) Chris

    Here's a clue of how to proceed.. When you electrically measure soil moisture your actually measuring resistance. In other words a common Ohmmeter can be used. If I were doing this I'd use a cheap analog or digital panel meter.

    It's triggered on a logic 0. You can drive the relays with a Darlington transistor array like a ULN2003.
