    Hardly worth the effort. It would I imagine be powered via an integrated section on the internal pcb and a real bother to isolate. I have fitted LED after market to cfl screens and they require upwards of 15 vdc plus a dim signal. Point there being they had an isolated driver.

    Switchmode power supply transformers are smaller due to the fact they run at a higher frequency than mains transformers. This is the attraction in the first place. Just taking a squiz at something in electronics is not the usual way to ascertain ratings.

    In most countries these dichoric lamps have been either discontinued or down graded to a much lower output wattage. Reason being they are in many instances the source of house fires due to the excessive heat they produce. And what is the first thing some insulation installers do? mmm...cover...

    Those switches are fairly complex units with forward/ reverse and variable speed. Not the sort of thing one dismantles and "cleans" the contacts.

    Cannot comment on whether or not a safety switch is required or not in your installation as I cannot see it. Others may be able to comment as to why the safety device needs power to reset because, as I mentioned before, never seen this type used for domestic use. I still cannot see the purpose...

    10 percent is the norm as Minder says. I believe you cost estimate is a wild stab in the dark though. It will be expensive although if I were ti issue an estimate with a range that large, I would have been out of the electrical contracting business a long time ago.
