Simple thing but no idea how.

Connection of the device is in parallel with the fan motor. So, one end connects to the load side of the switch and the other to the neutral. Not across the switch as you describe otherwise the neon will be on when the fan is off. Maybe someone here can provide a simple sketch. Difficult to do...

Simple thing but no idea how.

Most countries have a neon indicator complete with correct size resistor in a small casing which clips into a standard wall plate. As long as there is a neutral at the switch then yes, simple matter to connect to the load side of the switch and neutral.

    How to delay the relay

Quite simple to switch a relay on for a few seconds using say an npn transistor biased off and with a base series capacitor sized to give whatever time delay pulse. Maybe 2 are needed to cover the 2 different directions. Also relay might be able to be done away with if is just a high signal...

    line voltage

Still have no idea what your reference to Rs5 and Rs25 means. Never heard of it before.

    line voltage

(50/1000) = 0.05kw........run for 100 hours is 5kwh or 5 units. No idea what Rs5 is that you refer to. 5 units by whatever cost per unit is your run fee for 100 hours. Don't know where you get your 50w from though.

    line voltage

Countries such as Aus have a guaranteed regulation of supply @5% although there is talk of dropping down from 240 to 230 at some future time. Yes, 25w or 75w, whatever is your loading, divided by 1000 will give kilowatts. Further multiplied buy hours running time gives you kilowatt hours or...

    How to delay the relay

Use a decent power supply as i suspect the current one is shutting down or at least limiting the current to an unusable level. For example, try using a car battery. Diagram is ok and unless relay is 24v instead of 12v then i'd say it's ok also.

looking for feedback on feasability of this idea...

Whay . What bulb and battery size? The amount of energy you require most definitely will not come from a AA cell. When working with solar panels one must remember the useful sunlight charging time is usually around 4to 5 hours depending on you location.

    small motors

I'm surprised it is not emitting piles of smoke. In the absence of that then I'd go with Minders solution and check the carbon stack control.

Possibly mini JST connector....check ebay for sizes etc.

    How to delay the relay

As previously mentioned,if you were to supply a diagram of what you have, it might be possible to detect any problem area. Other than that, everyone is just taking stabs in the dark.

    Woodwork machine playing up

Cannot see the second motor, just the pulley. It's not usual practice to "share" start/run caps between motors ....too many connections to switch to begin with. I think your problems will be associated with just the problem motor. Would be a big help if you can round up a circuit diagram

    Portable earth test

High current is not required but appropriate sizing for circuit conductors and length of run are along with the correct low reading to match the type of circuit breaker in use. Also it is a requirement that neutral conductor is disconnected during test in an MEN system. Obviously without any...

looking for feedback on feasability of this idea...

I think what alec-t was referring to was the solar panel would at best be rated at maybe 1/2W for example and as such the energy stored in the 300mah battery inside would drive next to nothing at night.

    200vdc 1A supply, adjustable 180-220vdc

Rather iffy arrangement. Possibly work in theory but I'm wondering if you've given any thought to the potential hazard of high voltage fault currents in event of a blow up in one or more of the strings. Don't know about others here but find it difficult to follow your reasoning based on your...
