    MOSFET 12VDC Relay?

I'm trying to traditional relays with something more modern and efficient. The signal voltage is 12VDC. The design load is 12VDC/10A. Efficiency is a big priority. I see there are a bunch of inexpensive pre-made "arduino" type MOSFET driver modules which would work for this application...

    TRIAC Heat Generation & Dissipation

Hello all, I am putting together a TRIAC power controller that will control a 4500-watt electric heater: ~18.75A@240VAC. The TRIACs I am considering for this circuit are 40-amp TRIACS: NTE56028 in TO-220: http://www.nteinc.com/specs/56000to56099/pdf/nte56028.pdf NTE5679 in TO-3...

    SCR Motor Controller

My lathe controller is pooched, so I'm going to build a new one. AKA, I'm trying to control the speed of a 110VDC 250W motor. I'm thinking SCR because it seems simple and affordable. I'm going to rectify but not filter the AC power, thereby giving me DC pulses. I'll have the SCR gate...

DC Motor Controller Problem (SCR/Thyristor Controller)

I started a thread two days ago, which turned out to be caused by user error. My bad there. So I was happily using my 7x12 mini lathe for about 12 hours yesterday when suddenly it made a nice pop sound and stopped. Fuse blew. Replaced fuse. Blew again. Open up the control box and one of the...

What Value is this Ceramic Resistor?

Hi all, I'm confused by a power resistor. Here is the picture. I see it's 5W but then the 0-Ohm-01J confuses me. Is this a 0.01 ohm resistor? The resistors im familiar with have decimal ratings, followed by either Ohm or R. I'm replacing it because it is burned out (other pic)

How to supply 5v at higher current?

Hey folks... I'm trying to find a solution to supply 5 volts at a minimum of 50 watts--more would be better. The caveat is that it must be no taller than 1.5 inches (goes inside a pre-existing enclosure). Suggestions welcome :)

Help Needed with SCR and Optocoupler

Hi! I have a project with a high voltage side (340VDC) and a low voltage side (5VDC). It's a high powered xenon flash with a low voltage trigger circuit. I'm trying to use a 5VDC (currently just controlled by a momentary switch, ultimately will be from camera hotshoe adapter) to close the...

    Increasing Line 120VAC to 340VDC

Xenon Flash Circuit (How to get 400 VDC) Hello Everyone, Project is a relatively high power xenon flash unit (200 joules/200wattsecond flash tube). Tube requires 300VDC minimum for flash tube, and 4kV+ for trigger. Ideally, I'd like to provide closer to 400VDC. By my math, a 200ws/200...
