Q for the geeks
I need to build a charger for a 2 cell electric screwdriver (2.4v)
i found this circuit on utube will it work . . .thanks
edit : op amp powered via pin 8/4( not shown )

i just need a generic charger and wondered if this circuit is valid
the original charger is a wall wart 5v ac supply with an inline diode . .
how good is that ♪♪:)

still a little info lacking ...
we dont know the type of battery(ies) in that B&B unit --- do you ?
we dont know the type of battery charger cct that circuit is for --- do you ?

i just need to charge 2 nicad batteries ( 1.2v C size ) which will be pemanently
installed in this screwdriver ( the original batteries have long been discarded )
is the supplied circuit suitable for charging 2/ B type nicad batteries in series
. . my main queerie is . . . is this circuit valid . . will it work ?

One can knockup a basic nicad charger using an lm317 ,a pot a 12v plug pack and use multimeter to set the current.
Advantage charge any number of nicads up to 8.
Search Google for lm317 nicad charger.

There is a flaw in your schematic. How is the lower BC547 supposed to function?

Below is a CC-CV charger using the common LM317 regulator and TLV431 programmable voltage reference:
It charges the batteries at 210 mA constant-current and limits the charge voltage to 3V.
The TLV431 limits the voltage when the Vref voltage from the R1/R3 divider reaches 1.24V.
