Thats because of too many phrases like

"I don't want to pay for monitoring"

His wife and children will be happy to know that he got the sports package
from Direct TV instead.
"Monitoring is too expensive"

How many packs of cigarettes does he smoke a day?
"My cellphone will work better"

Until he changes cell service providers and doesn't remember to reprogram
the panel to the new number. I know you can carry a number over now, but I
don't know about in the past and if all will of the cheap providers will or
can do it. We already know the customers wants "cheap" and will change
service continuosly, but do they remember to reprogram the panel?
After a while one gives up

You can lead a horse to water.............................
I just don't want to hear about loss of life, or a raped child, or a
bludgeoned elderly parent. On the other hand, I don't give a damn about
their Rolex.

I am sorry for you loss and wish you
Drew the same as when we talked about getting involved with regulations
other than just bitchin' about them. Guess that was too on-topic as well.

You must live in a very small old established town and in my opinion they
are not doing you any favors. Most municiple ordinances will not allow
private systems to directly tie into city communication lines. Voice dialers
are also band from use directly to Public Safety offices in most every
occassion. Dispatchers cannot communicate with a voice dialer for any
possible needed information. Many voice dialers fail after surges and the
voice is in such bad condition it is not recognizable. The old tape type
suffer from deterioration of the tape and may or may not be ready for the
next alarm. Do you test this device on a regular basis or is the next time
an alarm is received your method of testing? Many states require alarm
verification from the central station prior to dispatching the authorities.
If they fail to make the verification call and dispatch, they are subject to
fines and possilbly charges of filing a false police reports.
The most dangerous part of this senerio is that you or a neighbor will show
up to the scene prior to the police. Now you or your neighbor has walked
into a rather dangerous situation. Never, never, never go to your home
without verifing that the police have already been on site. Instruct your
neighbor to do the same. The more times you go and find out it is a false
alarm, the more complacent you will become. It only takes once that you
respond to a real alarm and get hurt. OK all you Rambos listening in, I am
sure you are waiting for that alarm to happen so you can go running over and
kick some ass, right? Have you ever had to shoot someone? Could you really
pull the trigger? Could you live with that for the rest of your life? Have
you ever had a gun pointed at you by someone that is more scared than you
are or so high they don't know what they are doing or just plain doesn't
care whether they live or die? You have now just entered a world that you
probably couldn't make it in for 10 minutes. These people will hurt if not
kill you to keep from going to jail. All this to save a few dollars a
month? I guess I don't understand the thought process. The homeowner
shouldn't think he is a tough guy, let law enforcement do their job. Bottom
line, IMO my feeling is that someday some widowed spouse will sue the pants
off of the manufactures, distributors, and dealers, of these devices, for
making these products available to the public and allowing her dead husband
the abiltiy to be put in harms way.

The town I live in allows a voice dialer to be programmed to call the Police
station directly. To do this I needed to apply for a free permit and after 4
false alarms in a calendar year I would incur a fine per offence. My smoke
detectors are tied into this system and dial the fire department with a
separate message than the burglary message. The dialer (USP 2000) is quite
flexible and I have programmed our cell #'s as well as work #'s in addition
to emergency and neighbors #'s. I have had false alarms and know that the
police respond in a timely fashion. I have used this arrangement for the 15
years we have lived in this house and have never paid a false alarm fine. I
would be interested to hear anyone's opinions/criticisms of this setup.

AhhhhhHahahahahahahahaha.
