Alphanumberic 16 segment display

Anyone have any ideas what I can do with one of those Alpha LED displays, other than just show letters? Anyone tried connecting one to a computer? Just got one and don't know what to do with it.

Thats not a 16 segment display it's a dot matrix display, this is a 16 segment display:

Sorry, I misunderstood because I did not read your question properly. :-[ You can make moving patterns on it just for fun. Or maybe you like to do something more serious with it?
