Hello,

Having trouble with a recently "repaired" Marshall G80R-CD guitar amplifier.

Any ideas what's causing this electrical fault?

The sound cuts out randomly on the boost channels, but now there's barely any sound at all, even with the volume turned to maxiumum.

Is it a speaker fault, a chip fault, or time for a new speaker?

Thanks

Can be anything...

Test the speaker on another amplifier to exclude it as the source of trouble.
Check all the wiring for loose connections.
Check the supply voltages.

Your units speaker pairs are being fed from a red and black wire to them.

PROCEDURE:

Have no speaker(s) connected .
Have all gain and volume controls to the minimum . . . . max CCW positions . . . . . and then place DC metering across the red and black wires and turn on the amp to see if any DC voltage appears on those wires.
If so . . . .how much ?
