Analog voltmeter question - minus DC voltage

I need an analog panel mount voltmeter that can show a minus DC voltage range of approximately -500mV to -1500mV
I read however, that an analog voltmeter cannot display minus values. Is that correct?
If it is, can I just reverse the polarity of the connections to a say, 2 volt voltmeter?

Many thanks!

I have a meter that can read both positive and negative without changing anything. So I would think there are other meters that can do the same thing, you will need to search it out.

I am talking a analog meter, not a digital. You should be able to get a digital one also.

Google "voltmeter center zero" (without quotes) or go here.

Reversing the leads will be okay as long as the meter has no other connection to the circuit.
