Anyone using Orcad Layout done edge card layout (Male)

Laying out a board with edge card access (male connector on PCB with no
connector) wondering the following:

- Planning on making the connector a SM connector then manual manipulating
the fingers in Layout
- What the hell am I going to do with the board outline?

Any ideas?

i don't know what you're asking. there are no templates for this in
layout? there are edge connector parts, IIRC. copy one that's close to
your own lib and edit the part.

If you need to make your own board-edge connector, use surface mount
construction for your footprint. You need to define two pads types -
one for the bottom pads and one for the top pads. I like placing an
offset on the top pads so the connection point on the pad is different
from the bottom layer. The insertion point of my board-edge connector
lines up with a board outline feature.

Do your board outline in a mechanical drafting program like AutoCad or
Visual Cadd (packaged with Layout). Board-edge connectors usually have
lots of details to draw which is best done outside of the Layout
environment. The boardoutline is imported to Layout as a DXF.

Orcad libraries have a bunch of board-edge connectors that might fit
your needs.
