I know poor mystic was a cairns guy but looking for someone who might know regulations in australia on connecting solar or wind generators to the main grid here in australia.

The reason I ask is semi political but more for the average person. here in australia we are about to get smacked with a "carbon tax". now if you are lucky enough to own your own house you can save money by putting a solar panel on your roof or wind generator(not that i have seen any though). My idea is simply to make a portable (on a trailer) solar or wind generator that you can park in the back yard, or front yard if you trust the neighbours lol. but there are a few logistics that might warrant investigation, like what regulations must be met to adhere to australian standards?
also I might need to make a telescopic pole to raise the height of the panels to get decent light, is there and regulations on heights of structures even if semi permanent? I know this one isn't so much electronics but still if you happen to know then it'll help out.
any help is more appreciated than you know
Phil

The following is what I've gathered from my experience. Not guaranteed t be totally correct.

It differs from state to state.

In WA, you first need to get approval from Western Power (basically determining if you're going to do nasty things to the voltage supplied to nearby houses)

Then there are not too many regulations about who can erect the panels, but the testing and connection to the mains must be done in a certain way by an (I guess) specially trained sparkie,

There are also rules about how the installation is identified by labels applied to the meterbox etc.

Google "guerrilla solar site:au" for a less than official method.
