Hey Guys,
I work for an advertising firm and the management gave me a task to monitor the display terminals/TVs for failures. The TVs/signage boards recieve feed from a media server and as of today we have no means of knowing if the TV at a particular location is working or not, until someone calls us and inform that it is down. The advertisement TVs are spread across the city.

Anyone knows about any techniques or products to monitor these things and send an automatic notification if the TV signal/TV is down ? Is there any product like a sensor or something ? Your help will be much appreciated. :)

Hi there
welcome,

a major job :) the sensors would have to be either radio or IP linked from their remote locations back to your company HQ. yes it can be done. its not going to be cheap. sensing that a TV has shut down is the easy part., linking it back to the office will be the hard and expensive part

cheers
Dave

an addition......

CocaCola and such companies that have drink vending machines spread over cities do similar linking to know when sites need machines refilled. Do some investigating on how thay overcome the process. I know because of the "portability" of the machines they use radio linking. Possibly by individual cell phone transmitters.
