Hi,

I am trying to make a power supply for my Canon A460 Camera, running from a 12V Battery.

Output 3.2V- 2A

Has anyone got a circuit please?

I used a dc to dc fixed voltage chip. I now have 12v in and 3.2v out, but I'm not sure if the Camera plug is alway +v in the centre and -v on the outer ring. does anyone know please?

google for 3.3v regulator schematic.

For efficiency you'd probably want a switchmode regulator, but it's not overly simple to design one.

This video blog entry will give you an idea of what you would need to consider.

Hi steve,

I used this: http://www.national.com/ds/LM/LM2576.pdf 3.2 volt fixed output.

It needs only 4 components, I had to wind an inductor, and I only had a 1v Shottkey diode, but if I switch off the Screen before switching it on, it should be ok.

I haven't connected it to the Camera to test it yet, as i need to know how to wire the Camera plug, is it +v centre or outer tube?

Cheers, Camerart

centre positive is common, but I'd advise you to check.

Hi Steve,

Centre is +v, and the regulator works fine, thanks.
