What kind of camera can see a person in detail in pitch black outside
under tree shade with no IR illumination at 170ft.
Would my Sony handycam with Nightshot & Supernightshot and or B&W
film be able to pick up any IR illumination needed for the camera at
170 ft.
My handycam picks up brightly IR illumination from My short range
exterior camera and IR LEDs at 170 ft.
So what camera does not need IR illumation at 170 ft. I have been told
this does not exist yet.

I also have a Sony handycam with the night shot settings. On a
fishing/hiking trip to the border waters, I tried out the setting
after dusk, but before total darkness. I couldn't see my friends
canoe, which was 150' away, but I could hear their voices. I just
pointed in the direction of the voices, and was later amazed when the
video turned out looking like it was shot in fairly bright light. I
couldn't convince anyone that it was shot in near darkness. I have
never seen an IR camera that works this well, even with remote IR
illumination.
