clock signal for adc0809

do i need to give a clock signal to adc 0809 which i am connecting to the parallel port of computer.
can i give directly the clock signal of 640 khz from function generator.

I see no reason why it should not work with a 640 khz signal from the function generator.

640k is a good typical clock frequency for this chip. Check the duty cycle from the function generator, though. Is it 50%?
