Manufacturer says it is obsolete and that they have no parts or help to offer.
The problem is that the grinder starts and stops right thereafter. So my guess is the control circuit as the motor obviously can turn but that something stops it after approximately one second. It makes some small noises afterwards - it seems it is trying to turn but cannot get going. The motor has brushes so I am guessing a DC motor and that this a rectifying circuit.
Yes, there are parts on the other side too. Please see picture.

Motor is more likely a series AC motor.
You reaĺly need to take a closer look at the motor first up. Look for signs of excessive sparking ie. damaged commutator, excess wear in brushes, burnt smell around the motor, does motor turn freely.
It should be possible to run the motor indepently of the speed control board via a series lamp arrangement to get some idea.

I disconnected the motor from the circuit board and connected a DC supply. It runs fine on about 20V.
I realized this is probably a universal motor.
So then I guess it is the circuit board that is the issue. But how should I examine the parts on that? My first guess are the capacitors.
