The thermostat that was on the heating element has no continuity, so I had a different one I put in. Is there anyway to test the old one to see if it's an off then or a burned out on then off?
Both thermostats should read shorted at room temperature, then bi-metallic strip activated switching action open circuits at prescribed temperature. Then slow cool down action bobbles the unit to on and off cycling to maintain ~ temperature set point.
The other companion unit is a ONE SHOT over current detecting unit . . . . . . replace with same found temp marked rating on the new unit.
(They likes to use centigrade markup . . . . mostly.)
Either crimp the wire connections on the new unit or nut and bolt (brass preferably) clamp . . . (Locktite on threads) with some new wire formed terminals made on wire ends.
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaassit !
