Construct Large LED Sign

I would Like to build a large red LED sign using ultra-bright red LEDs that have a wide viewing angle.  I'm looking at 12” high letters, up to 12 characters, power supply and PLC to constructed unit.

Schmatics and a parts supplier would be most helpful.

??? Did I get that right? The symbols are supposed to be one foot high? If so, I'll think about a schematic. Second question: Just numeric display or alphanumeric?
