Electronic advise please ???

I want help with this Project........
Design,buld and test an electronic circuit that will control 16 LEDs in different sequences.For example........,the LEDs could light from left to right,right to left,two at a time .The selection of sequence is to be made by push button.

Using a microcontroller that you have programmed yourself would be the easiest way to perform the task. The microcontroller could even press the start button for you.
Using separate parts it would need an oscillator, an up-down counter, many gates and a few flip-flops. ;D

Make an LED-blinker circuit with hundreds of vacuum tubes. It will keep you nice and warm in winter.
