Newbi needs assistance with a DC-DC Converter kit that is defective in the required
IC calls for a CD4001 with 14 pins and the board has only 8 pins. I desire to redo the board as it is deffective but do not have a schematic to work with only a parts list and a two sided board. What to do next. Any help would be appreciated.

Probably the IC that came with the kit is of wrong type. (probably someone equally unlucky will have a board with 14 holes and an IC with 8 pins, and his kit also won't work). Try to google every code the board has on it in order to find the manufacturer and send them an e-mail. :)

What makes you think the kit is defective? Does the parts list agree with the PCB? Do the parts in the kit agree with the parts list?

Just a final note from the author: I redid the board with a 8 leg IC  Part # ua741 and project is complete.
The board was redone in Eagle only one sided instead of origional two sided type. It worked the first time out. Thanks for assistance to all.
