Hey all,

Is there such a software package that uses the computer's wireless card to detect frequencies - not internet signals coming from a router, but other frequencies floating around.

--thank you.

I havent really given that aspect any thought. I just wanted to "mess around" a little. But since you asked - things like cell phones, cordless phones, radio waves. I guess all of these are above 1KHz.

Hi Slackjack,

Here's a good website about using a computer's wi-fi to detect frequencies. It shows some programs u can use.
http://www.informit.com/guides/content.asp?g=security&seqNum=175&rl=1

U can also use Wi-Spy, but its a USB card that cost about $99.  It shows the signal strength for all Wi-Fi networks as well as Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz cordless phones, microwaves, Zigbee, and all other 2.4 GHz transmitters. I'm not sure about any that can receives signals in the MHZ and KHZ. Search it on google. Sorry
