Hi,

So I was traveling in south america and bought 2 cheap tablets that are now broken. They have files on them that I'd like to get. One doesn't turn on. And one does turn on but when turning on the screen it only stays on for 1 second before turning off. Not concerned about saving the devices, just the files. Please advise.

Tablets
Aoc S70g12
irt rohs t-710

Thank you.

Welcome to electronicspoint.

If your files are on the internal FLASH memory, your best chance for recovery is if you get the tablets working tethered to the USB port of a PC. Your description sounds like a power supply issue, possibly bad batteries or a defect in the charger section. While on USB, the tablets can be powered from USB which may just suffice to recover your data.

Harald,

Thank you for the reply. I'm not sure if your suggestion is possible the devices run android. To connect them via USB also requires enabling them as drives/file explorer. This must be done from the devices each time I want to connect them via usb. Without them being functional I'm not able to enable them as drives on my computer

That's bad news. My tablet is set up for automatically connecting as drive, so I wasn't aware of this issue. Anyway, give it a try as power from the USB port may be good enough to keep the tablet alive long enough.
