I have just brought some active studio monitors Samson A6 Resolv. They are 120/240VAC, they have a 250V fuse in them the little glass ones 5 x 20m I think, When I change the switch to 240VAC to use them in the UK the fuses blow in the back of the monitors. What fuses do I need?... I also need to know what amps the fuse should be for the wall plug.

It says on the back of them, "when changing voltage, fuse must be changed"

there is also a sticker on them that says, "Samson A6 Resolv 230V"

other information on the back of them is,
120VAC T2AL 60Hz
240VAC T1AL 50Hz
Power rating - 120/240V - 60Hz/50Hz 175W

Please help, thanks :)

Normally you would expect to use a fuse that is half the value when you double the voltage (approx).

The fact that the fuses rated for 120V operation are blowing when set to 240V makes me thing that someone has plugged them in when the unit was switched for 120V.

Hey thanks for the reply,

Yes when I got them that was set for 120VAC the fuse in them is a T1AL 250v.
Would I have to use a T2AL for 250VAC?

More than likely the MOV internally on the unit is shorted and causing the fuse to blow in 120 or 220 operation. You could probably open it up, cut the MOv out of circuit and then set switch for 220 operation and power up unit.

Was it ever powered up, even ever so briefly, from 240V with the switch set for 120V?
