Help to identify/replace component

After being left outside for far too long my Milwaukee M18 0880-20 portable vacuum stopped working.

Long story short I need a replacement for what I think is the transistor in the photo that is attached. I can’t seem to find anything with the same lines of text on the component itself. Please see attached:

Thanks for this. Haven’t done this is about 40 years. Current being the volts and amps? It’s powered by an 18V battery. I’m sure I can figure out the amps somehow..

Do you have the owner's manual it'll tell you the operating current.
The 0880-20 suggest it's 20 amps but it could be wrong what is the battery pack say on it?

The answer is no.
But you're really close.

If it's a typical lithium powered device then the current consumption can be enormous, limited only by the internal resistance of the lithium cell. The MOSFET is actually rated to carry 162A !!! (650A when pulsed!) so needs to be the proper replacement.

Again I am a simpleton but isn’t the draw on the battery limited by the demand coming from the electric motor for the vacuum?

Appears to be around 12A. So 18V and 12A.

What the motor consumes and what the semiconductor is rated for are often not comparable. I can't imagine that because the motor draws 12A the designer would spec a 15A MOSFET.

Coould be that they got a good deal on 162A MOSFETS and that's the only reason such a rated device is fitted but, to keep with the spec of the machine, replace like-for-like.

No skin off your nose - the cost difference between the 162A version and anything else you might feel like fitting is probably negligible.

the 12A number comes from someone who says he fixed his vacuum. Where else might I find the specs for this component? I don’t have a schematic. The 3 lines of text on the component itself doesn’t help? Should I look on the circuit board?

Or opine on this if you will; what if I just use a jumper between 2 of the prongs of the transistor? This vacuum can run off two different battery types. Each has its own slot to slide into and each has a set of wires that power the board. The vacuum appears to run fine if I use a jumper on the left and center pins of this transistor…
