how to turn on LED using 1 square wave

Help me out. I have 1 square wave pulse and want to turn on 2 LEDs one by one.
What are the possibilities? please post

Please detail.
Do you want to have one LED on when the pulse is low, the other when the pulse is high?
Or do you want the first LED to gon on with the first pulse, the second LED to go on with the second pulse?
What is the voltage of your pulse? How much current can the pulse source deliver? Which kind of LED do you have (operating voltage and current are relevant)?

if it is a 5 volt square wave and of a reasonable frequency you can use some flip flops and a small logic circuit. (even if its larger you can regulate it)

I want the first LED to gon on with the first pulse, the second LED to go on with the second pulse? voltage applied is 5V.
