Dave

Well - I shall follow Dave´s recommendation.
We (me and my wife) were in Bolivia from mid of March until beginning of May 2015 (6 weeks). Our stay was in Cochabamba (where our son lives since 3 years) and we did some travelling around.

As an attachement you will find 4 photos showing :

1.) „Day of the sea“ in Sucre (capital of Bolivia; La Paz is only Seat of Government“).
Each year, on 23 March, Bolivians celebrate the „Day of the Sea“. It is a bizarre spectacle: thousands of people march through the streets carrying model ships and pictures of the ocean. The Bolivian navy, which has no sea on which to sail, turns out in full uniform.
For now, that navy and the Bolivian people can only dream of coastal sovereignty. But they hope that with the help of the International Court in The Hague that dream can become reality. Bolivia's decision to take Chile to the International Court in May 2015 is the latest step in one of Latin America's longest-running and bitterest diplomatic stand-offs.

2.) „Cerro Rico“ in Potosi
The city of Potosi is located at an altitude of 4000m - and is today the highest „big“ city in the world (200 thousand residents). It is interesting that, in the 17th century, Potosi was the richest city in the world with more residents than Paris or Rom at that time. The reason was one single mountain „Cerro Rico“, which has provided the whole world with silver (today primarily tin and zinc only).

3.) Salar de Uyuni
The small town Uyuni is worldwide known because of the largest dried-out salt lake („salar“) which covers an area of app. 150x130 km. The picture was made on a small „island“ within this lake. This area serves as a target for many jeeps with tourists onboard.

4.) La Paz
This picture shows the city of La Paz as seen from a plane.

Regards to all
