Hello,

German story about a processor/cpu(?) which uses silicon and carves lanes
inside the silicon and fills it with some kind of organic substance...
then it's heated to vaporizing point... the lanes transmit at the speed of
light ?!

Pretty cool.

Bye,
Skybuck.

Hello Skybuck,

The German article is somewhat misleading.

The abstract form here shows what it really is. It's an integrated optical 1
to 4
demultiplexer (170.8Gb/s -> 42.7Gb/s) based on a clever combination of
silicon and organic material.
Of course there can be additional processing implemented in the silicon
part.
