Film caps at that size are way more expensive than aluminum electrolytics. Can you spell china?

BTW, if it were a series cap, the peak current would be 235 mA and the LEDs would have a noticeable flicker as you walked by.

The LEDs are not normal leds though so the flicker might not be there, but then any ic controlled led would have trouble changing color as it's always being reset

If that was true, chinese Christmas lights would be small bombs, but they work, i was surprised as well since safety film caps are used


you entirely missed the point !!
The polarised cap in your lights star is on the DC side and hence is polarised
the earlier ones being spoken of are the caps on the AC side which as @BobK said MUST be non-polar

You must have missed the part where i

"unglued it and traced it"

And found out it was rectified and not being dropped
