Measure humidity

Is there an electronmic component, say a digital humidity sensor, that i can use to build a portable weather station? Maybe something compatible with the PICAXE series microcontroller?

Have you checked out the usual suppliers ie. RS Components, Farnell, Digikey, Newark and Jaycar?

Yes, it's possible, there are many humidity sensors on the market. Normally they have a capacitance which varies depending on the humidity but it should be pretty easy to build an oscillator and monitor the frequency with a PIC.
