I want to be a power electronics engineer, but I am anxious that I don't have the minimum skills in order to become one. From past posts about power electronics, I know that skills in analog ic design and VHDL or Verilog are needed. I wanted to know what other skills are necessary to become a power electronics engineer?
My background: I have a BS in electrical engineering (power and energy systems concentration) and am a first year masters student. I have taken at least one course in power electronics, microelectronics, and control systems. I have yet to take an analog ic course, and I dropped a digital ic course after two months as I didn't enjoy working with W/L ratios or physical layouts. My programming skills are limited. I learned C and Python, but I haven't used it outside the class. I am comfortable with MATLAB.
