Hi Peeps
I'm weeks away from Mouser/RS and need a reliable transistor or TTL circuit for a 4MHz oscillator. I have a good crystal but the circuit I found online doesn't work.
If someone out there has invented a reliable version of this wheel, please let me have the circuit :)

Show us the circuit you're trying to use.
There are lots of circuits out there, e.g. this simple one here. Note that stable operation requires a solid build of the oscillator, miniming stray capacitances and inductances and using bypass capacitors on the chips' power supply as near as possible to the chips.

Thank you Mr Kapp.
I have abandoned the transistor circuit in favour of the TTL design - I have some spare gates in my board design.
Some thread on Stack Exchange had convinced me that the TTL circuit would be too unreliable.
Also I am having difficulties because I've been away from the work a long time, and my brains have gone to butter :)
I'll get it sussed!

(PS: The word "sussed" is New Zealand and Australian slang, which means "sorted out" in Northern Hemisphere English.)

Here in the UK too.
Back in the 80s, the cops had ‘sus’ laws and nick you for ‘sus’picion!. Thankfully, that got the boot!.
But yeah, “I sussed it” or “I’ll sus it out” simply means to sort it.

What components do you need to implement your circuit?

Just to touch base...
I'll be using a couple of spare 74HC02 NOR gates, but I've already committed my stock-in-hand on the board I'm building. It'll be a day or 3 before I can build a separate test circuit.
Thanks everybody :)
