Need Advice for a USB circuit board

I'm new to this forum, I am an electrician with less experience of electronics but do know some theory. It's a bit silly but my fairy lights broke and I love them so don't want to buy new ones, I've looked and can't find any the same. The prongs snapped off the USB circuit board, these prongs slot into the end of the USB. They seem to0 delicate to solder, it's extremely thin tin and very fiddly. So I thought I must be able to just buy a USB circuit board but don't know which to buy, I need one with a button because the lights had a sequence of modes, I would press a button to change the mode. So my question is: is it possible to just buy a new ready made USB circuit board with the button?
I've attached a couple of photos.
Any advice or information would be appreciated. Thanks so much for reading.

Your photos need to be .jpg files, jpeg. Also they cannot be large file
sizes. But limit I do not know, a moderator can comment on that.

The pics you tried did not post.

Other types are allowed. If you click on 'Reply' then the 'Attach files' button, then on 'Supported file types' in the resulting dialogue box you'll get a list of types; but there's no mention of file size limits.

Hello,

The maximum size of the attachments can be about 5 Mb.

USB modules are available but not with any switch.

Thanks people, I've converted the photos. I've taken a pic of both sides of the circuit board and highlighted where the prongs are supposed to slot into the other part of the USB (2 of them having snapped off) and circled the button I press to change modes.
So my question again is, can I buy a USB replacement circuit board with the button ?

It's nice you have taken those photos, but it would be even nicer if you would show them to us here. :)

It looks like you have a salvageable circuit board. You just need to remove the existing solder and replace the USB Fitting afterward, by soldering it in place and bending the perimeter tabs to secure it. I would do that before trying to find an entire module with another tactile switch. If you don't know how to do that, ask for help.

Bluejets has offered a replacement. Kind of expensive in the UK.

Not knowing where your home country is, if it is in the US, then here is another one, much less money for quite a few more pieces.

That is "female" type and through hole.

Pretty sure Op's is male and smd.
If you look at the soldered side of his PCB, you can see where the four pins come through it. The ones you are suggesting are smd, as the tabs are parallel with the insertion point. The ones I am suggesting have pins perpendicular to the body of the USB, to fit through those holes. As far as male or female, unless that PCB is inserted inside something and has a cable attached to it, it should be the female side. A look at the other end of his damaged USB would let us know for sure.

Another option: get some unused USB cable, cut it in half (or simply cut off the unused conenctor). Then remove the outer insulation for a few cm (e.g. 5 cm). Next remove about 0.5 cm of the insulation from the red and black wires. Solder the wires to the PCb acc. to the pinout shown here.

That's more or less equivalent to the method proposed by @Bluejets in post #5 without the hassle of having to put the USB connector module and cable assembly into an enclosure.

I just wanted to say that this has worked, so thank you very much for helping me. Sorry it took so long to reply. I have only just got round to soldering on the new piece.
