Well - can anyone actually mention a couple of the new things that are not evil
and inhuman - or is that what the fuss is about?

'Tis very interesting!

The pope quotes an ancient emperor: "Show me just what Mohammed brought that was
new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman",

And in rebuttal, the Muslim masses did what they seem know best: burned, maimed,
and killed.

What a great demonstration! How exactly did it further the cause towards proving
said ancient emperor wrong?

The pope can say and quote whatever he damn well pleases - just like I
can - and
everybody else is totally free to ignore it also!

A free and civilised society cannot tolerate that a bunch of morons in far
away
places dictate what the appropriate behaviour of the citizens of that
society
is. That is a demand for submission and an intrusion on the sovereignty of
the
state.

The problem is not that we are insulting the Muslims too often - the problem
is that we aren't insulting them often enough.

As Bette Midler says, "**** 'em if they can't take a joke".

Are you referring to The Vatican?

Well, if the Pope wants to be a comedian he'll risk losing his
legitimacy when negotiating with representatives of other faiths.

But not to DEMAND submission to the the LAW according to your personal
psychosis.

Nothing destroys crackpot ideology as effective and economical as plain
ridicule. We should use it *more* instead of pretending to take the lunatics
seriously "for the sake of peace" - which indeed has the opposite effect (see
below).
Are you referring to The Vatican?

No - but you knew that. You are stalling.

As you may well be aware, the Cristian church(es) was long ago put in it's
proper place and replaced by civil society - at the cost of about 20-30% of the
population of Europe. The German neo-pagans were also dealt with again at vast
cost in destruction and carnage. The fall of the USSR was cheaper - for us
anyway - but here the price was paid in proxy wars in the developing world.

Therefore, whatever *that* particular lot say now is irrelevant to daily life,
as you well know.

My problem is tolerating that, in spite of all those hard lessons, "everyone
responsible" is in exactly the same deep denial about islam's intentions as
before when European newspapers were instructed by diplomacy not to make fun of
herr Schickelgruber - less government officials would be embarrassed by failing
to prevent his devotees showing up on your doorstep. Or later when we were
supposed to believe that the red army was a peace movement to not upset the
export business.

The islamic world is clearly warming up for an (the second?) attempt at their
1000 year Reich - backed by Industrialists, Important People (and the UN), a sea
of Cheap Money and suicidal immigration policies. It will, of course, end
exactly the same way as before if we keep pretending that we do not have a
problem with people that threaten to kill us if we do not do what they say (even
though we pay their social security check).

It is I.M.O. better to confront and expose the conflict right now, when mere
words and drawings will do, than later when the argumentation is carried in bomb
racks.

We've tried ridicule, but the Xtians keep complaining about
discrimination.

Except that the line about 'neo-pagan' is just a line of propaganda
pushed by the Xtians. The Nazis were and still are inseparable from
Christianity.

That may be true, but the Pope (or any other Xtian leaders) are in no
position to be teaching Muslims anything about how to behave civilly.
Christianity is perceived (by many religions, not just Islam) to be
hostile to alternate theologies and is therefore not trusted.
Christianity also has its share of skeletons in the closet with regards
to its violent past and, as such, has no moral authority to be lecturing
anyone else about how to behave.

Pah - did not stop Dave Allen or Monty Pyhthon did it?

The "new & improved"
multi-culti-respect-for-any-sensitivity-however-stupid-it-is BBC might well have
stopped those shows today. I cannot remember any recent skits over religion in
spite of the rich vein to be mined here.
And yet, like a bad game of whack-a-mole, they keep popping up over and

Society does not support the teaching and application of independent reasoning.

Is that right? The führer being the mere servant of a jewish god?? Anyway, both
are equally dead as movers & shakers of society.

This is irrelevant. What is not irrelevant is the response to the alledged
lecturing. What would the rational approach be and what was the chosen reaction?

Our political leaders (the people whom we entrust to handle our
international interests) need to demonstrate that the Pope is no
different than that crazy guy standing on the street corner, screaming
at people. Same goes for the likes of Jerry Falwell and others of his
ilk.

In return, we should expect the same from Islamic nations. Granted, it
may take a few decades for our example to make an impression on them.
But we can't expect to reverse thousands of years of delegating our
responsibility for our morality to a bunch of theological crackpots
overnight.
