Questions silicone gel in plastic and rubber, good ou bad?

Using silicone car gel protects and renews the plastic and rubber of old video games or dries out and makes the plastic and rubber more fragile?
i doubt my friend says use silicone gel bad plastic and rubber

Hello,

Depends on the gel quality.
There are gels that contain acids that will attack the plastics and rubber.
If you want to use such gel, look for an acid free type.

The composition of my silicone gel is: Purified water, thickener, silicone, adjuvant, fragrance, non-ionic surfactant, pH control agent and preservatives 5-chloro-2 methyl isothiazolin-3-one, 2-methyl-4 isctiazolin-3 -one, Bromo-2 Propanediol

The rubber handle of my snes control is dry, hardened and rigid which product to use for it to be malleable again?

I used silicon bathroom sealer to try and seal the rim of my wheel barrow tubeless tyre so that I could inflate it. It worked but the sealant has clearly reacted with the synthetic rubber of the tyre and has turned from white to a really manky looking brown. It has been ok for a couple of years now but looks a right mess.
Not really the same thing though I suppose.
