Hello,

First of all im an electrician not an electronics person, so please be understanding!!!!  :'(

I'm trying to help my son out on a project he wants to do, and to be honest if its not 230V im lost!!!

The idea is a remote control (ie the garage fob key type) that can operate a small battery operated beeper to drive his school friends mad for the science fair.

I've (we) have tried buying RF receivers to use with our spare garage fob but to be honest I havent a clue!, does any one have some advise (please dont say get a clever dad) or info on a similar project?

Thanks  8)

You're right, this is not a simple project for someone with little experiance but shouldn't he be doing his doing his own homework?

The modules need other circuitry to work. A good way of doing it is to use a microcontroller.

Here's a link to a tutorial.
