I'm repairing a Fisher lab weighing scale that is built around an old
ICL7106 3.5 digit voltmeter chip. The LCD has turned completely
black. At the time it was made, there was only one style of LCD
available. They were in a 40-pin DIP format with one inch spacing
between rows of pins.
I can't find any new LCDs that aren't one and a quarter inches
between rows. The pin count and pinout art the same, but the new ones
are "taller" than the old ones. And of course, I can't just plug a
new one in where the old one was. I *can* plug in one row at a time
with the other side just hanging in the air and see either the bottom
or top half of the display functioning, so I know the rest of the
scale is OK.
Can someone point me to a source for one or two of the old style
3.5 digit LCDs? I've Googled and searched eBay for three weeks now
with no success.
