Has anyone played with DC to AC inverters?
I've been repairing an inverter. It is a 24VDC to 120VAC 750W unit.
The failure sympton was low voltage output atound 90 V.
The circuit uses a complementary symmetry pair of transistors feeding a center tapped primary . The transformer's secondary has two paralleled oil filled capacitors across it's winding. I replaced these capacitors (which were leaking oil) and restored the voltage to normal.
My question is what is the purpose of these capacitors, how does this circuit work?
Is there a ferro-resonant thing going on? I read how ferro-resonant transformers are tuned to resonance which cause the flux in the core to saturate, which regulates the output voltage and reduces harmonics in the output. Is this how my circuit works, or is there some other fuction occurring?
