I'm about 3/4 through rebuilding a 70s vintage stereo system. The front panels were pretty unsightly but I'm managed to remake the power amp panels. The pre-amp panel, though, is using rectangular pushbutton caps (manufacturer: UID). I was hoping to avoid the original rectangle cut outs an go with round pushbutton caps and therein lies the problem. The button shaft is ~ 5 x 4mm and all I seem to find in round caps are significantly smaller footprints. Suggestions anyone?

There are many ways, but my first thought was to file down the original shafts to fit the new caps.
Or if the new caps are solid, drill them out to fit the original shafts.

Or print them on a 3D printer matching exactly teh cutouts in the panel. Rectangular, round, any diameter you wish.
