Hello
I need a sensor to locate the Exact position of the slot used in die casting machines. yes! for robotic application, Of Course.which type of sensor would be suitable for this type of operation, capacitive or any other. The same application requires to place the workpiece at a pre determined position in the slot. can anyone help!

If the slot is open on both sides you can use an led and a Photo Transistor. When the light shines thru the slot it will trigger the circuit.
