This hoax has been tried before and the panels add more weight and air
resistance to the inefficiency than ever recovered from the PV charge in
the parking lot on a normal drive to work and back. You may notice than
no other electric or hybrid vehicles, from major manufacturers, have PV
panels on them. Some day the efficiencies may break the 14% barrier and
it may be possible.

As to efficiency, normal c-Si panels in the market now are beyond 14.5%,
and the highest is Sunpower's 20% series.
