Static electricity eleminator

Hello, I have one of those plastic floor mats with the spikes on the bottom for my chair. When I'm working and go to touch my equipment i get shocked, I'm sick of it. Is there any thing i can do to eliminate this static. Ive heard if i put some aluminum foil under it and run a wire from it to a grounding point it will get rid of it, is this true.

I'm sure you know that the shock is caused by static electricity.

The static electricity can damage sensitive semiconductors.

You should replace the plastic mats with carbon loaded rubber anti-static mats and wear a grounded anti-static wrist strap when working with sensitive semiconductors.

Low humidity in the air increases the occurance of static electricity. The air becomes dry due to heating the home or business in winter. The air is more humid in summer causing very little static electricity so add some humidity in winter with a humidifier.

Grounding the plastic mat will do nothing. It is you that needs to be grounded.

Hey Friend ! suggesting you an appropriate solution for overcoming the static problem you can use a cotton cloth on your chair else a glass sheet on your desk this will sure help you out.
