Anyone have info on how to build a probe for this so as to not damage it?

Damage what?
The audio AF/RF probe or the
72-540 signal tracer/ injector?
The circuitry Submitted with the
AF-RF of probe schematic circuit below; is more than likely inside your unit, at least that is what the schematic tells me. All that is needed is a pair of what looks like (DIY) O’Scope probes, along with an RF coupler(not shone).
You must carefully inspect your unit to see if the circuitry is working properly and/or the components, especially the electrolytic capacitors must be replaced. That’s a given.

I worried about damaging the signal tracer. When I look at units for sale that included the probe, it looks "fat" which led me to assume there were possibly parts within it that keep from frying the tracer. I realize it's an assumption on my part, but that's the reason for the question. I've never used one before, so sorry for the noob question. I am trying to learn how to get some boat anchor radios back on the air.
Thanks for the information! Kinda surprised there aren't any manuals online for this thing that I can find.

Can you please take a photo of your unit, .. I need to see all your switches, knobs, test lead input, output, and hopefully they’re all legible & your Analog, VU meter.
Please reference the schematic supplied, On the input it looks like
you have a variable attenuation; up to 60dB’s in 20dB steps.
Also… you have series connected 100K Ohm + or - 0.1% resistor to the input. There’s nothing extraordinary
(minimal options) I think your unit came with the a couple of probes, some wire along with alligator clips.
Get out your old boat anchors I could Gide you as to where to inject the signal and where to probe that signal. almost forgot we’re gonna need an oscilloscope
Have to see if your generated AF/RF signal is rich harmonics so we could test the IF amplifiers in your radios.

Thanks, yes, I found that manual previously. However, there's no mention of anything to do with the probe, so that was my original question. I saw someone selling one on eBay and the probe was very chunky. Saw another youtube video of someone using a similar unit, and again, big fat probe. This lead me to assume that there might be a resistor or something within the probe. I realize that was and still is an assumption on my part. I'll carry on building a straight probe for it and see how it goes! Thanks for your willingness to assist.
