I'm not sure how I can use this transformer it has, 10.5V(9.5A) 0V 10.5V(9.5A), what output V and A can I get?. 12VDC would be ideal, with 9.5A or more would be good, I have made some sparks trying to work it out, so I thought I'd better ask the experts before I do some damage. I want to use it to power my cordless drill and screwdriver, it would also be very handy for my hydrogen experiments. I made this power supply from Electronic Lab, 3-30 V/2.5 A Stabilized power supply. Would I be able to modify it to use for this purpose, I only need to control the voltage Thanks in advance.

  3. Hi Uman, I found PCB express software the easiest to learn and use :), and I am absolutely hopeless at learning to use new software :(. I like to make my own PCB so this software isn't much good for me, it won't print out the PCB pattern >:(, I'm still searching for software that is as easy to use as PCB express, no luck yet,
  4. Do I understand this right, I can use this power supply to recharge rechargeable batteries, by setting the voltage and current limit to suit the requirements of the battery to be charged. Is it possible to add a circuit that can be adjusted that will sense when the battery is fully charged, then disconnect the power or maybe shut down the PSU. If it can be done I think it would be very handy :). Sorry if this isn't the appropriate place to ask this question. I was thinking it may be a handy optional add-on for this project.
  5. Thank you Kain, for taking on the job of designing the PCB :). Double layer board, that will be a new challenge for me I'll be looking forward to giving that a go ;D. I was planning on putting this project together some time after Christmas, to add to the original PSU that I put together, with a couple of modifications and works very well 8).

  7. Well the idea is, if you're in need of a particular component or components, you post your request as well as components you're willing to trade for them. You pay your own freight to send them. Or something along those lines. It is just an idea, maybe it can be done :). You would have to consider the freight costs, versus the cost of the component. I have components that I have salvage that are fairly expensive to buying new, they would cost very little in comparison for shipping. The idea of recycling is the most appealing part to me 8).

  10. My computer is an AMD K6-3/500 CPU, am I understanding this right. If I can keep my CPU really cool 8) I can squeeze it for more speed, over clock? how do I do this ???.

  12. MP, I'm not sure how I should take your comment?, I do feel somewhat offended :(. I do not feel that any new member with few posts, is less trustworthy then any other member of Electronic Lab. As for my suggestion 50 or 100 posts, do you really think there wouldn't be anyone out there, that wouldn't try to take advantage of the good members of Electronic Lab. It would be all too easy to become a member and post a few comments and get a few free components. I am not buying selling or trading anything here. This is a suggestion :). Feedback/Comments Freely post your thoughts about this site. Suggestions, request, critism etc Adding a new topic under buy/sell does makes sense, but I was thinking more along the lines of this being for members, and set up under its own forums name or something similar I don't know, my suggestion was to maybe enhance this site, not to create more work for Mixos. My idea was to post the idea and add a few suggestions ;D.
  13. Hi all, Maybe there could be a section devoted to components swap. I'm sure there's plenty of members of Electronic Lab that have recycled all kinds of electronic components. I have all sorts of bits and pieces some of which I have more than I need, and some things I have are very useful that I'm not likely to ever use, but could be just the thing that a member of Electronic Lab needs. I think some rules would have to apply. I think maybe members that have a certain amount of post maybe 50 or 100 would be allowed to make a swap, at least you would get a bit of an idea whether you could trust this member. And I think the most important rule of all. If you send an item to a member and you receive nothing in return(bad luck) you simply don't send any think unless you are prepared to take the risk. You simply don't deal with that person again and no bad feedback, except for maybe something went wrong didn't receive item. I think with the proper rules in place, this could be a really good thing ;).

  16. Good work Steven, I have a suggestion :), see drawing. A clear hose will allow you to monitor the water level in each chamber :D.

  18. Do you really need to use a transmitter/ wireless :-\. It would be very simple to set up, if you used wires :).
  19. Hi Matthew, Ante. can you keep us updated with your progress on solving this problem. There must be some kind of voltage control, I am thinking that the CDI controls this, with my experience with early motorcross motorbikes, they had a high and low stater coil each coil would be switched on and off according to the RPM to maintain a reasonable voltage output. So you should have a controlling mechanism either within your CDI unit most likely, or separately, that controls switching between stater coils to maintain a reasonable voltage output. There may be more to your bridge rectifier then just diodes. I think we really need to understand exactly how this system works, so we can work out exactly where the fault is.
  20. Hi acker, have you tryed replacing your stereo socket :). I also have some background static coming through my stereo headphones, it has been slowly getting worse over the last couple of months. The static reduces dramatically just before I play something through them. I just put it down to old age, if it doesn't get any worse I'll live with it.
  21. Hi atheos, am I understanding you write, you don't know how to solder, and you want to start with surface mount chips. You must like a challenge ;D. You'll need a fine tip and find solder, I suggest you find something to practise on, surface mount chips are in just about everything these days. Maybe an old CD drive, disk drive etc. Good luck :).
  22. This project calls for a (2.2uF 150VDC) I have a recycled capacitor (MKT 2.2 J 250) I have no idea, can this be used ???. And this is written on the side of the capacitor, MKT 1.60.60 FMD DIN 44122 X 1. Any help please.

  24. Hi Ante, you know I didn't even look at the schematics when I decided to finish this project, if I did I would have realised ::). I had most of the components and the etched PCB in a plastic bag, awaiting till I learn more of electronics to finish it. I just when ahead putting it together using the component overlay. I didn't even consider that I could solve the problem myself now, I sure can be thick sometimes ;D;D.
