  1. Hi

I would like to know if there is a shareware program that i could use to layout the components of a circuit on
a computer and print out the actual layout of where to place the components because a schematic doesnt show where to place them in real life. I hope you know what I'm trying to say.
After I start my project I find I need to go around things I've already soldered I would like to plan it first

    Thanks

  2. It is not the job of a student to explain a formula but to use a formula to solve a problem.
In order to do this one must first understand the formula. He was not asking to have his homework done, but for an explanation of the formula or simply a website that would explain it.
The world would be better off if we all helped each other without mocking or deriding.
Especially young people who are looking to more expierenced people for guidence.

  3. Hi. I have a power supply from a DVD player which has 2 grounds, 5V+, 12V+, 12V- and another 5V+
    and another pin for CN

    1)  what is the cn pin for?
    2) Can I tap into the 12V+ and 12V- and make a junction to have 9V + and 9V- what components will I need?
    3) Can, and if so what should I do to have 5V- and what components will I need?

    Thank you for any help

  4. I read that a capacitor should have a value of at least twice the input voltage does this mean that only the capacitance is important and the voltage could be any value as long as it is twice the input voltage?
and with resistors does it matter if it's .25 watt or 5 watt as long as the resistance is the same i need to know because im trying to use used parts i salvaged from an old monitor and photo copier

  5. Where does a beginner begin.
I would imagine that I'm not the only one who has decided to take up electronics as a hobby so perhaps this topic will be of interest to other as well. I have spent most of my life as a machinist/mechaic operating my own business and now I'm taking nursing but I want a hobby that is intersting and useful at the same time, so that's why I decided to look into electronics. I have just completed one project the E-Stethoscope and now I am starting a couple more but apart from knowing what a resistor is and a capacitor I know nothing but I want to learn about op-amps and how you choose the right one and how it works and how you know where to place what resistors capacitors etc. and what values they should have how can I obtain this knowledge without going to school is there a good tutorial on the net that begins at zero and teaches you these things? or perhaps some projects that should be learned first.

  6. I've been reading this thread and I see that there has been a significant amount of problems with this project heating up, with the schematic that is posted in the projects. I also see that audioguru has provided an updated parts list can some tell me why the person who maintains the projects doesnt update the parts list with the scematic  :D Just curious as to how things work ??? also If i use the new parts list is the schematic still the same
    Thank you

  7. Hi. I have put this cicuit together and checked it many times and cant get it to work.
It's supposed to hook to a computer through the sound card and using a program provided by the author of the schematic show a wave form on the monitor but I cant get it to work I have gone over my circuit many times but I cant find anything wrong with it any help would be greatly appreciated.%7Boption%7D

  8. I checked digi key for part LM4040D1Z-2.5but they have no listing for it is there some thing that could be substituted for it

Also the resistors that are listef for sale do not match those asked for by the schematic what does one do for this situation choose the closest one to it or is there a different solution.
    Thank you

  9. I have one but there are some parts that when i try to order them from futurlec they dont seem to have them there are all kinds of resistors that dont have the same values and a diode too

  10. I considered buying the kit with 300 projects. But when you see what you get, it a fancy breadboard with very few electronic components I opted for choosing a project from the web I just completed my first project an electronic stethescope "with a lot of help from Audioguru" Thanks. Audio. Any way I learned a lot from it and its fun when you finaly get the kinks out. I think making something you actualy want is more fun than just doing small projects in a kit and then dismantling it.  Any way thats my take on this subject

  11. Hi Guys Just to let you know I just completed Stethoscope 2 and it works well I do have however a constant hum coming from my hesdphone does anyone know if it would be resolved with a better headphone or would it not accomplish anything. thank you for your reply
