What if i buy a SSR instead of rigging up the circuit?

I know this is a simple question, but i'm still asking it. I'm using a ATMEGA16/ATMEGA8 microcontroller. I want to run a relay using it. I have a relay thats 6V 100ohms. Now i need build a circuit to make the relay run. What would you suggest? Buy a SSR/other relay with suitable rating or shall i make a circuit for it to work. I want to run a appliance thats rated @ 220V/.5A max.
