  1. ah ha!!! Ive got it, I used a dual opto isolator, the +ve pulse goes into one, and the -ve into another. Now ive bought the bits and got it all working, I can now say that the project is working and finished!!! however... it cost me more than a bistable relay!! lol !!! I spent 40
  2. no probs, take out the rectifying diodes and put the battery the right way round. test it first before putting a big battery with a small pp3 for example, then use a bigger 12v one. Many years ago, I was a busker and used the same thing connected to a guitar, I also found( and be careful here as this is probably an exception) some of these amps work even better on 15v giving a very clean sound.
  3. maybe the motors will turn faster , thus the timer for the cycles faster too!!! this would mean your 1 hour cycle for coloured items will only last about 50 mins. it could be ecologically a good move to go from 50hz to 60hz. If you go to 50hz from 60, you might burn out the ozone layer a little faster, if not your motor!!!
  4. thanks, its as I thought, I used a 4011 cmos to make a bistable with a centre tapped commo so I can have a plus control iP and a minus control ip after the weekend, ill tell you if it worked ;D
  5. ok, its a Gardena radio cotrolled programmable system for switching on and off stuff in the garden. I got it cheap, and got receivers cheap too. The power switches and the electric taps are very expensive though so I managed to rig up a 10
  6. thanks, ill look up this idea on the net, I suppose i'll have to do something to switch on and another to switch off, the prolbem is the type of control signal I have, I imagine these switches will switch on as soon as there is a signal in, but, if the signal stops the switch will switch off. Ive in fact bought a bistable relay which was pretty expensive and because the programmer and receiver for my garden has up to 32 outputs, I dont want to use so many relays. (even though I wont be using all of them, of course), but I would like something which is cheaper and smaller than relays and if possible NOT a mechanical device which will eventually, buried in the garden.
  7. the original control signal is intended to control a 6v water valve which is a 2 coiled electro-valve. in the shops I could buy a very expensive switch which fastens onto the receiver ( which has 4 o/ps) thus being able to swich on garden lights for example. The nature of this signal is that it is short and 6v. for on it is in one direction and in off, it is in the opposite. it seems to me the only way would be a bistable relay with diodes on each input. Is there a solid state idea for this?
  8. Ive got a radio-command garden programmer which controls the watering system. Ive built a bistable relay to switch on and off the water using a 24v system instead of the expensive recomended 9v system. This works fine. the receiver of the programmer gives out a short 6v signal to switch on the water and another signal in the opposite direction to switch off the water. The signal is short and in each state the polarity is reversed. that is ON = 6v on wire A , 0v on wire B Off = 0v on wire A , 6v on wire B because the programmer can control 4 different things, I would like to use it for other things. how can I switch on and off lights, for example, which would normally need a relay which uses lots of current and requires a permanently "on" signal.; as for a battery receiver this would not be a very good idea as lights are not switched on for a short moment, but usually for a whole evening. I do not want to use a bistable relay if possible. Does anyone have a better idea?
  9. if the circuit between the 2 speakers (that is one for each person communicating) is switching between transmitting and recei 8)ving at a very high speed (10k for example) the problem could reduced assuming we know the distance between the 2 people?

  11. there exist shall motors which run of these solar cells, all you have to do is put little bells on buts of cotton which turn round and hit something. :o
  12. about 20 years ago I discovered when working at a company which repaired car radios that there was one chip which worked off 5volts. The secret is to look up the No of the chip on the net and find the reset pin. DONT put this to 0v or 5v or certainly not 12v this does not work, simply put 100hz square wave at 5v with a capacitor of 10nF on the positive pin on the reset for a few seconds and then switch off the radio when you switch back on the code should be 0000. I believe nothing has changed for the philips or blaupunkt radios so it should work after a few tries. otherwise replace the whole chip with one which you know ther code of. good luck.

I use skype, the speaker is just next to the micro and there is no feedback. there is a distance where a micro ans speaker will howl, therefore maybe the fact the sound I make has to go through the net and back before it is fed-back stops the feedback getting to the micro as it has to treat other sounds. with a delay the same thing could be done.Maybe your friends will then answer the questions before you have asked them ;D

  18. one should NOT say "one cant do this or that." :o I think its a cool idea, who cares if it sounds like shit, the Idea has not been done yet, so it should be tried. If it works then work on the quality. I think the first battery was a lemon with two strips of metal, once it was found to work it was improved on. maybe some kind of filtering with diodes may be a good start, the signal into the speaker is going in one direction so the signal made by the speker as a mike can be taken by a diode looking in the other direction. some kind of negating cct would be needed in order to remove the output from the amp and leave only the signal from the mike/speaker. even if it doesnt work, it's fun to imagine ideas of how it could be done. good luck, I'll keep an eye on your progress. ;)
