Hi MP,
Here it is: http://www.electronics-lab.com/projects/science/004/index.html -
Hi John,
I don -
Hi Doc,
Those might keep you busy and out of trouble for a while! ;D
Thanks NanOp ! ;) -
Hi raj,
What kind of references material do you need? A circuit, test results or other? -
Hi Jim,
So, we are talking battery powered and spark free!? ;D
I suggest a CD4060, LEDs, a piezo beeper a three way switch and a few small parts in a sealed box. -
Well, I would go to the store where I bought it and tell them to put it where the sun doesn’t shine, because that’s where the crap should be!
Then I’d find me a quality player at another store! 8) -
If I got it right here you need less than 500mA and this should be fine with almost no heatsink at all. If you fit it in a metal box just bolt it to the box and you’ll be fine. The tab of the MXL1074CT-SL is common ground so you don’t need any insulation for it if you don’t want to. (I presume your bike has negative ground connected to the frame)!?

Hi Herman,
Welcome to our forum,
We need to see the schematic to be able to help you. Can you please post it or supply a link to it? -
Hi Shahriar,
Why not buy one, they are not very expensive?

It’s less than 14€. -
Hi Jordan,
There are two possibilities here; one is that this is a crappy player (I have seen others also struggling with diverse problems with this model). Second; the installation is poorly done (unless the car harness has some flaw)! -
Woops! :-[
The MXL1074CT-SL is available as sample and works the same way as the MAX724-26 (max 2A). ;) -
If a power supply fails you either lose the power or getting the wrong voltage. The need for failure alarm or a backup system depends very much on the use. A life support system needs a backup but for a less important power supply it might be enough with a failure alarm.

Hi Jim,
Welcome to our forum.
You have to reveal a little more about your invention so we are able to help you! What I mean is we need to know something about the voltages and how much power (Watts) you like to control. -
Here is another possible solution:
http://datasheets.maxim-ic.com/en/ds/MAX724-MAX726.pdf
High current, high efficiency, no heatsink, low part count, free samples and no fuzz! ;) -
a fixed voltage divider has 2 resistances in series while a variable voltage divider has a resistance in series with a POT.
The variable voltage divider might also be just a potentiometer and no fixed resistor. -
Hi stuee,
We need the data for the alternator (Volts & Amps) and the battery (type & Ah) you like to charge. -
Hi NanOp,
The DjVu files can be converted to PDF. -
Here is the PDF version:
Print it and stick it to the wall! -
Hi Doc,
Well, since I don’t hate you here it is! ;D

If you got some space on top of the transformers winding you can add an extra winding here. Use any thin insulated wire and start with say 10 turns then measure what voltage these 10 turns gives you, the rest is mathematics a rectifier and a few more parts.
Another possible way is to build a small galvanic insulated DC-DC converter. -
Whiteout changing the compression ratio you will only get a less efficient and damaged engine! The ECU will delay the ignition timing and cause a higher temperature inside; pistons, exhaust valves and turbocharger (if you got one) are at risk here. Depending on the shape of the combustion camber it’s also possible to damage the engine with premature detonations unless your engine has a knock sensor. 8)

Hi kqp,
The last digit is the number of zeros, 104 = 100000 pF! -
Hi gogo,
Yes it can handle 5A but not over the entire range of 9 to 25Volts.
