Hello ZomBiE

What circuitry you used to produce the 40V dc for the input of MAX724.

If there is 40V DC at input they need to be stabilized 40V?,
Then with the 50K pot you can go from 2.5 to 35V / 5A?

The coil must be rated to 5A ?

mihpa,

I have built this circuit and it works fine.
To feed this circuit you need a transformer (28V 8A) and a rectifier (20A).
It is not necessary to stabilise this.
Yes you can adjust the output voltage 2.5

mihpa,

I have used an 8A transformer so I can say for sure that it is enough, but maybe a 6.5A will work. If you have one lying around, try it and you can report back if it works. The reason I chose an 8A is that there are very high currents when switching and a 5A transformer will not give you 5A out from this circuit at least not in the higher voltage range.

I am now trying to figure out how to fit a current control on the circuit.

Maybe with current sense resistor + op-amp + transistor driving the "FB" pin low, would that work? At least it might (and most propably will) interfere with output voltage setting resistors...

vainajala,

The LM 7824 can take 40V input so I think it will work or I can use the LM 317HV. Thanks for bringing my attention to the MAX 4080, I have not seen it before and it
