Enginuitor Posted July 26, 2004 Report Share Posted July 26, 2004 Just a reminder to everyone to use sufficient work lighting when sticking probes into live high-power circuits...I couldn't really see what I was doing, and managed to convert the last several millimeters of my nice needle probe into plasma by inadvertent contact with two adjacent power traces, one of which was completely obliterated by the blast.Pic attached... I put my oscilloscope probes across the AC mains on a power supply and POOF, one of my probes got shortened by 2mm. Also scortched a nearby cap. At least the fuse did what it was supposed to do.
